Homemade Granola Bars Kids Love & a Freebie!

My kids love granola bars. Chewy ones, crunchy ones, chunky ones…they each have their favorites. And I love them too because they are portable, filling and easy to grab on the run. However, some of them are loaded with lots of junk I don’t want my kids scarfing down on the regular.  That’s where Homemade Granola Bars come in to play.

Try these Homemade Granola Bars Kids will Love! And get Free labels for your homemade snack packaging at The Preserves Project!

When I first decided I wanted to try my hand at making my own granola bars, I of course turned to Pinterest and collected a bunch of recipes to try. Some were big, fat failures…too dry, too sticky, too yuck. Some required strange, hard to find, or expensive ingredients. And then some recipes were just right.  (Making homemade granola bars for my 3 little bears brings out my inner Goldilocks.)

Check out the links below and give these recipes a try.  Once you’ve found your favorites, make a whole bunch because they’ll go fast! Most recipes for homemade granola bars advise that they’ll keep 4 – 5 days. Ours never last that long.

As for storing the bars, I like to wrap each one in wax paper or plastic wrap and then store the wrapped bars in a big tupperware container. To make it extra fun for my kiddos, I like to add a cute sticker to hold the wrap closed on each bar.

And lucky you…download a free page of the stickers I’ve designed here! (They were designed to be printed on Avery Labels template 5160…the standard address label size.)

So here are the ones that are on “The Snack List” at our house:

My oldest son, Marcus only likes peanut butter bars and this recipe from Shelly at Cookies & Cups is his favorite.

Maren in the middle loves a classic chocolate chip bar so she likes this recipe from Laura at Real Mom Kitchen.

My little guy, Mason, specializes in making messes so this crunchy bar from Tieghan at Half Baked Harvest fits the bill.

And this one is mama’s fave: Homemade Chewy Granola Bars from Kristin at Iowa Girl Eats. Yum!

Let me know which homemade granola bar recipes you try, and if you have any other recipes your family loves, please share! We’re always looking to add to our collection of yummy treats…

What a great idea! I’ve been wanting to make my own granola bars for a while, and now I have no excuse! Chocolate chip is my favourite 😉 I’m a kid at heart.

I want to try some of these for sure. I am blown away at how expensive granola bars have become & if you opt for organic like we try to do, they’re crazy expensive! Thanks for sharing!

Yes! This is a great way to control what goes in them, and you can buy the ingredients in bulk. We love Aldis, Trader Joes and Nature’s Promise organic brands for the oats and peanutbutter, etc…

I think I’ll be trying the chocolate chip and the chewy ones first, but I’m sure my hubby would really love the peanut butter. These recipes look great! Yum!
